THE QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE and THE OLYMPICS

to look forward to.

Many thanks to everyone who has given their support in so many ways and we wish you all a

October 2011

THREE GOLDS FOR WARKWORTH!

On Tuesday 15th September the Northumbria in Bloom Awards were presented (this year at Saltburn) and once again Warkworth has had an excellent year, winning;

GOLD and BEST LARGE VILLAGE IN NORTHUMBRIA
(for an amazing 9th consecutive year)
GOLD for ST LAWRENCE CHURCHYARD
GOLD for THE MASON'S ARMS

Well done to all the parishioners who take such pride in their work and to John, Barbara and Adrian at the Mason's for their wonderful hanging baskets.

New Barns Court and ACT NOW are in the RHS “It’s your Neighbourhood” competition and their results will be announced on Tuesday 4th October.

We now have 13 helpers who play a major role in planting, watering, weeding, street furniture cleaning, litter picking and generally keeping the village looking good. The Team wishes to thank them for all their efforts and support, it is much appreciated and we hope they’re looking forward to the Spring planting at the end of October and a chance to wear our new luminous jackets!!

Thanks too to our sponsors and those who make donations each year, which helps keep Warkworth in Bloom going, and for all the good wishes we have received from both villagers and visitors.

Our Northumbria marks increased by 1% this year and we are now making plans for next year to see if we can continue to bring success to the village. Anyone who would like to join us is most welcome.

Sunday 25th September will see us off to St Andrews for the
RHS Britain in Bloom Awards Ceremony and the results will be announced in the November Pelican.
