Summer is upon us – where did the Spring go? We took delivery of our Summer planting from Heighley Gate during the last week of May and, following extensive preparation of the beds, planting took place before the  Spring Bank holiday – we are keeping our fingers crossed that we do not have any frost in the following weeks. Because everything was so late this year we found it difficult to be taking out plants which were still in full bloom, but in order to have the village looking good for the rest of the year it had to be done.  We have recycled as many plants as we could and hopefully they will be on display again next year.

Northumbria in Bloom Summer judging date will be Wednesday 7th July from 10.00-12.30.
