LATEST NEWS

The Branch is pleased to announce they now have a new British Legion standard to reflect on our new name of the branch as “Warkworth and Amble District”.

The Branch is affiliated with Amble Army Cadet Force and we are very fortunate that they are enthusiastic supporters of the Warkworth and Amble District annual Poppy Appeal. We are pleased to announce that their efforts last November have been recognised by The Royal British Legion who entered them into the Lord Lieutenants Youth Poppy Awards held Friday, 16 March at University of Northumbria. We are thrilled to announce they won the Northumberland Army Cadet Force First Prize. The cadets who attended the presentation to represent Amble ACF were Cadet Stevens, Cadet Calder, L/Cpl Southward, L/Cpl Craik, along with Sgt Hedley and Major Ewart. The award was presented to them by Her Grace The Duchess of Northumberland, Patron of Northumbria Royal British Legion. Their presentation photograph will be uploaded on the RBL website www.britishlegion.org.uk/counties/northumbria on Tuesday 20 March. Amble ACF is presently recruiting for cadets and 2 adult instructors. If you wish to contact them on how to join email them at OCWCOYO9@NACF.org.uk.

The Branch will be hosting a “A 1950’s Musical Extravaganza” at the Sun Hotel, Warkworth on Friday, 1 June at 7.30pm to celebrate

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. We hope as many residents of Warkworth and Amble will join us to celebrate an evening of 1950’s music including musicians from The Playhouse, Alnwick. Tickets including dinner are £15 pp available from Secretary on 07785 753100.

The next meeting of the branch will be held on Thursday, 24 May at 7pm in the British Legion Room, Warkworth Memorial Hall, Warkworth. All are welcome.

British Legion Poppy

POPPY SELLERS WANTED

The Royal British Legion is one of the few charities that directly support veterans and their families from past and present wars. The demand for our Welfare services has increased dramatically with the Afganistan conflict and the Poppy Appeal Fund is vital for this. To maintain current levels we need to recruit more Poppy Collectors in Warkworth and Amble for Oct/Nov 2012.

If you wish to register as a Poppy Collector for the 2012 Poppy Appeal or wish to join the branch please feel free to contact the Secretary on 07785 753100. For only £12 per year you will receive a quarterly magazine and have the opportunity to participate in local and national events.

Our branch meets bi-monthly on Thurs evenings at 7pm with speakers, outings, and social events held regularly. You do not have to be ex service to join.
